The Historical Background of the Grand Palace theatre, known historically, as the Saint Petersburg State Theater of Musical Comedy is long and lustrous. The history of the Theatre of Musical comedy is inseparably linked with St.Petersburg and the theatre is situated on one of the most beautiful and oldest of the St. Petersburg squares. Arts square was created by Italian architect Carlo Rossi. The theatre adjoins the home of the Philharmonic Orchestra named after D.D. Shostakovich.... It sits besides the Grand-Hotel "Europe", the museum of artist I. Brodsky, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, and the Russian Museum of ethnography.
